Franklin Hardy Obituary

Franklin Roosevelt Hardy was born on January 28, 1943 along with his twin brother, Winston Churchill Hardy to the late Jessie and Fannie R. Hardy in McCormick, SC. He transitioned from earth to heaven on July 26, 2022 at the family home on Prince Rd in McCormick, SC. He was 79 years old.

He was preceded in death by three brothers, Winston Churchill Hardy, Jonathan Hardy and Jessie Melvin Hardy.

Franklin was educated in McCormick County Schools. In 1963 he left McCormick at a young age and moved to Washington, DC. A short time later he moved to New Jersey. After settling in New Jersey, he drove back to McCormick in 1964 and moved his family to New Jersey.

Franklin was a friendly outgoing person who made loads of friends wherever he landed. He had a generous heart and was loved by many. He was always willing to give a helping hand to anyone in need.

He was a faithful member of St. John Baptist Church in Scotch Plains, NJ under the leadership of Dr. Kelmore C. Porter for many years.

In May 1965 he met and married Corrine Jones at The Church of The Living God in Scotch Plains, NJ. To this union three children were born, Ricky Hardy and Franklin Hardy Jr. both deceased and Min. Cynthia-Hardy Blackman.

Franklin was a very hard worker and a great provider for his family. He assisted our mother in purchasing our first beloved home in Plainfield NJ. He was a very resourceful person. He owned rental property that was a blessing to our family and others as well. Because of him, every family member always had a good and safe place to live. He was employed as a long-distance truck driver before becoming disabled.

Franklin leaves behind his beloved daughter who was the apple of his eye, Min. Cynthia-Hardy Blackman (Elder Scott F. Blackman), two brothers, Thomas L (Helen) Hardy and Larry Hardy, three sisters, Lola Bennet, Lula B. Hardy and Rev. Mary Ellen Lake, one aunt, Jonnie May Hardy, six grandchildren, Ricky Hardy Jr., Malika Spruill, Terrence Spruill, Rev. Khayri D. Tilman, Tyrese McLemore, Alya L Blackman and Malachi Blackmon, two great-grandchildren and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
