The life of Carrie Mae Wardlaw Creswell, widow of  Willie David “Bill” Creswell began on September 7, 1938 in McCormick, SC. She was the oldest daughter of the late Joshua and Nina Crawford Wardlaw. Carrie Mae departed this life  for her heavenly home on Sunday, March 27, 2022. She was 83 years old.

Carrie Mae joined Holy Spring Baptist Church in McCormick, SC at an early age where she served faithfully. She was president of the Sunbeam and Youth Choirs for twenty-two years. She was ordained a Deaconess in 1960 and remained faithful for over sixty years. She was a 1957 graduate of Mims High School. She retired from the McCormick County Detention Center as the Jail Administrator. She was a member of Bethany Order Of The Eastern Star #1 and the Christian Benevolence Society of Holy Spring.

Carrie Mae’s fond and precious memories will be cherished by her daughter in law, Carolyn W. Creswell of McCormick, SC.  Her grandchildren, Thaddeus J. (Diondra) Creswell of Fort Mill, SC, Tiffany Creswell and Brooklyn Cobb both of McCormick, SC. Her great-grandchildren, DreKevan Thomas, Braylon Creswell, Kealyn Creswell, Alasia Cobb, Kyleeyah Talbert, Kyleer Talbert and Tyreek Holloway all of McCormick, SC. Her goddaughters, Janice Chiles reared in the home, Annette Murray and Carolyn Jackson. Her godsons, Bobby Ray Anderson reared in the home and Michael Murray. Her brother, Benjamin (Connie) Wardlaw of Calhoun Falls, SC. Her sisters, Daphine (Curtis) Price and Alice W. Turner both of Greenwood, SC. Her sisters-in-law, Annie Vet Wardlaw and Julia Wardlaw of Greenwood, SC. Her best friend Frances Mae Patterson of McCormick, SC. Her god grandchildren, great-god grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins and  friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her husband and parents, Carrie Mae was preceded in death by her son Thaddeus D. Creswell. Her brothers; Nathaniel Wardlaw, Josh B. Wardlaw, John W. Wardlaw, Freddrick H. Wardlaw, James D. Wardlaw. Jarrett C. Wardlaw, Ulysses G. Wardlaw and Joseph B. Wardlaw.  Her sister, Lillian Wardlaw Bryant and a godson Bobby Wideman.
