Cecil G. Wright, Sr. aka “Cebo” was born in Troy, SC on December 7, 1940. He was the widower of Elizabeth Thomas Wright and son of the late James E. and Annie Pearl Traylor Wright. Cecil’s earthly walk ended at his home on February 20, 2026 at age 85.
Cecil was the devoted husband of the late Elizabeth Wright for 59 years. A caring and responsible father to his children and a awesome Papa to his grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Cecil retired from Satterfield Construction Company. He had a passion for driving trucks, traveling, shooting pool, playing spades and talking with everyone. He was a former member of Holy Springs Baptist Church in McCormick, SC and later joined Mt. Herman Baptist Church in Troy, SC where he was a member of the Senior Choir.
Cecil’s memories will be cherished by his sons, Cecil Wright, Jr (Sharon) of Plum Branch, SC, Jeffery Wright (Tonya) of Greenwood, SC and Wayne Wright (Kendra) of Lincolnton, GA; daughters, Penny Morton (Ronnie) and LaQuanda Drennon (Marcello) both of McCormick, SC; brother, Willie Mack Wright (Annie Mae) of Greenwood, SC; sisters, Dorothy Chiles of McCormick, SC and Annie Ruth Murcier (David) of Troy, SC; brothers-in-law, Willie Durant of McCormick, SC, William Thomas (Linda) of Greenwood, SC and Larry Wideman (Sandra) of Greenville, SC; sister-in-law, Ethel Lee Wright of Troy, SC; 15 grandchildren, 36 great-grandchildren, special nephews, Calvin Chiles and Marcus New, close friend, John Richard Morgan and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
In addition to his wife and parents, Cecil was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Wright, Earnest Wright and David Wright and a sister, Cornelia Butler.
