Courtney Cierra Quarles, better known to family and friends as “C-Kat,” passed away peacefully on April 7, 2024 at her home in McCormick, SC. 

Courtney was born on July 28, 1988 in Greenwood, SC to Mary E. Quarles and the late William S. Johnson. She was raised in the home of her grandmother, Maggie P Ferguson of McCormick, SC. She graduated from McCormick High School in 2007.

Courtney was a kind, meek, compassionate and humble person who never met a stranger. She lived life to the fullest everyday.

In addition to her father, Courtney was preceded in death by her brother; Jamel Johnson and her grandparents, Johnnie Mae Johnson and Johnnie Lee Ferguson.

Courtney leaves to cherish her memories, her son, Ja’Quarius Parks of McCormick, SC, her loving mother, Mary E. Quarles of McCormick, SC; her grandmother, Maggie P. Ferguson of McCormick, SC; her stepfather, Thaddeus A. Chiles of McCormick, SC; four brothers, Montez D. Quarles and Jarvis Johnson both of Greenwood, SC, Cornelis O. Quarles of McCormick, SC and Travis L. Quarles of Greer, SC; four sisters, Kenyatta Quarles of the home, Salandra Turner, Jasmine Johnson and Alexia Johnson all of Greenwood, SC; two stepsisters; Tiandrea Middleton and Latise Chiles both of McCormick, SC; three nieces, Na’Khiyah Quarles, Ka’Miyah Quarles and Skyla Quarles; five nephews, Ja’ Keivius Purdy, Ja’ Myius Purdy, Karson Bryant,  Zhaylen Quarles and Kaleb Quarles; a special cousin, Quadgiela Quarles, and host of other relatives and friends.
