Cynthia E Freeman Obituary

Cynthia Elaine Freeman was born on December 15, 1962, as the ninth child of Jesse Freeman, Jr. and Novella B. Freeman. Despite being diagnosed with Acute Cerebral Palsy at birth and given a short life expectancy, Cynthia defied the odds and graced this world with her presence for 62 years. On February 18, 2025, she peacefully transitioned from this earthly life.
Cynthia was a testament to strength, perseverance, and resilience. Throughout her life, she faced many challenges but always found ways to express herself despite never being able to walk or talk. From the age of five, she lived in various homes across South Carolina before settling at the Burton Center in Edgefield, SC, where she received care and support.
She was a beloved sister, aunt, niece, and friend who touched the lives of many. Cynthia was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Novella Freeman; sisters, Elizabeth Houston and Jessie Mae Elam; brothers, Richard Freeman, Robert Freeman, and Arthur Freeman; brother-in-law, Robert “Smokey” Houston; nephew, Christopher P. Houston; and niece, Lakendria Houston.
Left to cherish her memory are her devoted siblings: Annette (Curtis) Freeman Sibert of McCormick, SC; Lora Green, Darlene (Silas) Lovett, and Tony J. Freeman, all of Clarks Hill, SC; and Robbiestine Turner of Augusta, GA. She is also survived by her sisters-in-law, Paulette Freeman of Nashville, TN, Nina Freeman of Evans, GA, and Mary Ann Freeman of Martinez, GA; brother-in-law, Willie Ray Elam of Lincolnton, GA; uncles, Clarence Freeman of Augusta, GA, and James L. Freeman of Clarks Hill, SC; aunts, Carrie Burch and Bertha Freeman of Augusta, GA, as well as Lillian Broadwater, Mary Freeman, and Beatrice Freeman of Clarks Hill, SC.
Cynthia’s legacy lives on through her 21 nieces and nephews, 32 great-nieces and nephews, and 2 great-great-nephews, along with a host of extended family and friends. She shared a special bond with her nieces, Carisa and Ariana, and her nephew, Adrian, who played an integral role in her care.
Although Annette was Cynthia’s sister, she cared for her as if she were her own child. She dedicated herself to ensuring that Cynthia was always well cared for and surrounded by love.
Cynthia’s life was one of quiet strength and unwavering love, and she will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
