Deacon John Edward Dean was born in Edgefield County, SC on March 13, 1935. He was the  husband of Sallie Mae Tolbert Dean and son of the Late Barto and Julia Robertson Dean. Deacon Dean transitioned  from this life into Glory on Thursday, November 13, 2025 at age 90.

Deacon Dean was a member of Liberty Spring Baptist Church in McCormick, SC where he served as Deacon.  He attended  Edgefield County Schools and work in textiles before retirement. He enjoyed  a good laugh with his family, riding his bicycle and eating ice cream.

Deacon Deans’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Sallie Mae Tolbert Dean of the home; sons, Charles Dean and Jimmy E. Dean (Tovonia) both of McCormick, SC; daughter, Beatrice Dean Padgett (Randy) of McCormick, SC; grandchildren, Devonte Dean (Diamond), Jimiyah Dean and Jimmy Dean Jr.; great-grandchildren, McKayla Sloan, Mason Dean ,Major Dean Kingston Donaldson, Keegan Donaldson, Kamden Donaldson, Kinsleigh Donaldson, and Kayleigh Donaldson and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Deacon Dean was preceded in death by his brothers, Bill Dean and Jessie Dean;, and his sisters, Mary Ann Talbert, Laura Ann Thompson, Carrie Quarles and Julia Dean
