Effie Nee Dean

Effie Nee Gilchrist Dean was born on January 25, 1930 in McCormick, SC. She was the widow of Jessie Dean and daughter of the late Willie and Bailey Adam Gilchrist. Her earthly journey ended on June 29, 2022. She was 92 years old.

Effie was a member of Mt. Moriah Missionary Baptist Church in Plum Branch, SC. She attended McCormick County Schools and was a housekeeper. She had a humble heart and was loved by everyone. She was a beloved mother, grandmother, sister, wife and friend. She also had a special love for the Ferguson family and was instrumental in raising their children.

In addition to her husband and parents, Effie was preceded in death by a son, Edward Dean, five sisters, a brother and a stepson, Ronald Butler.

Effie’s memories will be cherished by her sons; Seymore Dean of McCormick, SC, James Dean and Andrew (Annette) Dean both of Atlanta, GA. Her daughters; Mamie Cannady of McCormick, SC, Eddie Perrin and Jessie (John) Gilchrist both of Plum Branch, SC. Her sisters; Willie B. Holmes of McCormick, SC and Dora Pickens of North Augusta, SC. Her brother-in-law, John Dean of McCormick, SC. Her step children; Rufus Butler and Gerald Butler both of North Carolina and Olga Butler of Edgefield, SC, sixteen grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
