Essie Smith

Essie Smith of McCormick, SC passed on Saturday, September 28, 2019 at McCormick Rehabilitation and Health Center.

Born on August 16, 1948 in McCormick County, she was the daughter of the late Javan Smith and Mary Curry Smith.  She was a member of Martha Chapel United Methodist Church and a graduate of McCormick High School.

Family members preceding her in death are, Vida Smith, Margaret Talbert, Ophelia Williams, Ida Sandford, Lucy Jackson, Edith Tennant, Javan Smith, Jr. and Thomas Smith.

Essie leaves to cherish her memories, one brother,  Ulysses Smith of McCormick; five sisters Jessie Prince of McCormick, SC, Mary Gilchrist and Effie Smith of Greenwood, SC, Martha Johnson of Detroit, Michigan, and Jay Ann Banks of Miami, Florida.

Homegoing Services will be Friday October 4, 2019 at 2pm, in the Andrew Wardlaw Funeral Home Chapel. Burial will follow in Martha Chapel United Methodist Church Cemetery.

The family is at the home of her brother, Ulysses Smith, 199 Straight Gate Church Road McCormick, SC.
