Gertrude Harris, 69, of 333 Brewer Road, McCormick, SC passed on Friday November 8, 2019 due an accident. She was born in McCormick, SC on August 16, 1950, to Daisy Mae Gibert, and the late Mr. James Jenkins of McCormick, SC. She was preceded in death by two sisters; Linda McKenzie and Jonie Calhoun and one brother, Wilbert McKenzie.
Gertrude was a member of Holy Rock Reformed Episcopal Church where she served as the secretary. She was also a member of Talmadge Fitness Center in McCormick. Her loving, kind, and sweet spirit touched every soul she encountered. Most of all, she had a pure heart of gold. She enjoyed being around her family, helping anyone that crossed her path, and of course cooking. She was famous for her amazing salmon patties, that her family will truly miss. Her smile would light up any room she entered.
She leaves to cherish her loving memories: her mother, Daisy Mae Gibert of McCormick, a loving daughter, Tanya Y. Harris (William Lomax) of McCormick; a son, Richard Harris, of Greenwood, SC; a grandson reared in the home, Richard S. Harris, Jr.; four sisters, Julia Harris of New York, Avis McKenzie of Greenwood, Charlene Brownlee of McCormick and Helena Jenkins-Key of Charleston, SC, ; two brother, Rev. Rodney (Tammy) Currie of McCormick, James Harris of New York; one grandson, Robert “Mook” Chance (Latisha Carroll) of Greenwood; two granddaughters Shataea Murphy of New York and Tashanaye “Daysha” Harris, whom she was inseparable with, of McCormick, SC; great grandson, R’Monti Chance of Greenwood; two great granddaughters, Niziyah and Zamani Murphy of New York. Additionally, she leaves a special friend, James Searles and his daughter, Angel Searles; a special aunt, Julia Mae Harris; a close friend Mildred
