On Friday, November 29, 2019 God picked one of his beloved flowers from his garden. Gertrude Searles was born on September 17, 1953 in McCormick, SC to the late Henry Morgan and Mary Perrin Searles. Gertrude was preceded in death by three siblings, Claude Searles, Elizabeth Hackett and Freda Parks, and a daughter in law, Alicia Searles.
She was a member of White Rock FBH Church in McCormick, SC and the Women Home Aide Society Lodge #86. During her life span Gertrude sung on the Friendship Community Choir as a faithful alto. She was employed by Talmage Manufacturing for over 20 years. She later became employed with McCormick Transit and Burton Center until her health declined. Gertrude was not a stranger to anyone she met. Gertrude was always willing to lend a helping hand to anyone that needed help.
She leaves to cherish her unforgettable memories two daughter, Deborah (Kenneth) Gunter of McCormick, SC and Tiara Searles of the home; one son, Sedrick Searles of Greenwood, SC; three sisters, Mary Hardy, Shirley Searles and Joann (Ricky) Musier all of McCormick, SC; four brothers, John David Searles of the home, Reverend Melvin (Mary) Searles, and James Searles of McCormick, SC; Richard (Denise) Searles of Woodbridge, VA; seven grandchildren, Malik, Jamar, Serenity, Jae’Mya, RaShaad, Jazara and Sinyla; a brother-in law Clyde Hackett of Promisland Land, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
