John Willie Sibert, 66, of Greenwood, SC, entered into eternal rest on Friday, March 6, 2026, at Self Regional Hospital. Born in Greenwood, SC, on May 22, 1959, he was the son of Mary Sibert and was reared in the home of his late great-grandparents, Willie and Sarah Sibert.
John attended McCormick High School, worked for Greenwood Mills, and retired from MEC in 2018. John loved going fishing and spending time with his family.
In addition to his great-grandparents, John was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Henry and Seafie Sibert; a brother, Rickey Allen Sibert; a sister, Shirley Yvette Sibert; a cousin, Barbara Duncan; a nephew, Darnell Smith; and uncles, John H. Sibert, Moses Sibert, and Daniel Sibert.
John’s memories will be cherished by his mother, Mary Sibert of Greenwood, SC; one daughter, LaQuanda Yeldell (Travis) of Abbeville, SC; two sons, Tevin and Kevin Sibert of Greenwood,
SC; two granddaughters, Gabriyana Yeldell and Trinity Yeldell; one grandson, Cameron Yeldell; one great-grandson, Jireh Brown. He is also survived by two brothers, Ronnie Sibert of Greenwood, SC, and Michael Sibert of McCormick, SC; three sisters, Janice Gilliam, Angela Chambers (William), and Carolyn Phelps (Joel), all of Greenwood, SC; along with a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who will truly miss him.
A Celebration of Life was held on Saturday March 14, 2026 at the WS Mims Center in McCormick with Apostle Darlene Saxon, Officiating. Burial was in Overbrook Cemetery.
