JP Mattison Jr.

JP Mattison Jr. of Augusta, GA peacefully departed this life on January 18th, 2021. JP Jr. was the oldest of four, born on December 4th, 1931 to the late JP and Amanda Mattison in McCormick, SC. 

JP Jr. enlisted in the army in 1952 where he served for a few years. After being discharged from service, he worked for Babcock & Wilcox for 30 years before retiring. After retiring, JP Jr. spent his spare time working for a florist and spending time with family and friends.

JP Jr. was affectionally called Bip. and he adored his nieces and nephews and exclaimed pure joy when hearing from any of them. Anytime you asked him how he was doing he always replied Okee-Doekee Mighty Fine! He had a smile that would light up the room.  He was generous to those he cared for and he was equally adored and will be extremely missed by his family and friends.

JP Jr. is predeceased by his sister, Dora M Stewart and two wives. He is survived by his brother, Eddie Lee Matterson, his sister; Ophelia Mattison, his two nieces; Sheila Matterson Grady; and Marcy Mattison Vega; His Nephew; Derek Matterson, his two nephews in law; Marcello Vega and Kevin Grady, His great niece; Sierra Grady and his four great nephews; Derek, Kory and Almonese Matterson and Phoenix Vega and a host of extended family and friends.
