James Thomas “Tommy” Dennis was born on April 16, 1954 in McCormick, SC. He was the son of the late Paul and Ruth Berry Dennis Sr. and the husband of Jetty McCoppin Dennis. James departed this life on April 3, 2023 in Columbia, SC. He was 68 years old.

James was a member of St. Paul AME Church in Columbia, SC, a 1975 graduate of McCormick High School and a Army National Guard Veteran. He worked in textiles before his retirement.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Janessa L. Bryant and three brothers, Billy R. Smalls, Jessie L. Dennis and Paul Dennis Jr.

James’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Jetty McCoppin Dennis of the home; daughters, Conswella Dennis. Harvey (Kevin) of Philadelphia PA, Toni D. Rivera (Jamil) of Los Angeles, CA, Sierra Cade of Calhoun Falls, SC, U’Kasha M. Elmore and U’ Cosha F. Elmore both of the home and Latarsha Briggman (Derrick) of Gaston, SC; sons, Darrell J. Dennis of Columbia, SC, Jarell O. Dennis (Angela) of Stanford KY and Ulysee Elmore II (Willette)of Columbia, SC  sisters, Claudia B. Wideman and Carolyn K. Dennis both of McCormick, SC and Cynthia Norman (Ronnie) of Lincolnton, GA ;brothers, Eddie L Dennis (Sherry) of Taylors, SC John B. Dennis (Thomasina) ,Charles T. Smalls and Joyful Smalls all of McCormick, SC;20 grandchildren,3 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
