James Doughlas “Shine” Johnson was born on July 16, 1938 in Far Rockaway, NY. He was the son of the late Roscoe and Azaeleee Thomas Johnson  and husband of Mary Moore Johnson. James departed this life on Saturday, January 25, 2025. He was 86 years old.

James was a member of The Church of Christ Westside in Abbeville, SC where he served in the bus ministry. He attended public schools in Abbeville, SC; was as  US Army Veteran and worked as a custodian for Abbeville County before retirement. He loved the Lord and people. He shared the Gospel of Jesus Christ with everyone he met.

In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a daughter, Yvette Johnson Green.

James’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Mary M. Johnson of the home; daughters, Shenaqua Johnson of Bronx, NY, Kathy (Samuel Jr.) Crawford, Michelle (Terry) Thompson and Kristi Moore all of Abbeville, SC; sons, Kelvin Johnson of Hempstead, NY and Keith (Barbara) Moore Sr. and Patrick (Rose) Moore both of Abbeville, SC; a grandson raised in the home, Demario Donalds of Abbeville, SC; brothers, Melvin (Lillie) Johnson of Bronx, NY and Sidney Richardson of NY; aunts, Doris (Milton) Thomas of Jamaica, NY, Lucille Thomas of Bronx, NY and Cynthia Thomas of Abbeville, SC; grandchildren, Lashay, Alaysia and Divine; 13 step-grandchildren, 22 great-grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
