James Albert Lomax Jr. was born on November 1, 1952 in McCormick, SC to the late James Albert Lomax Sr. and Nancy Middleton. He unexpectedly departed this life at his home in Augusta, GA on Wednesday, May 17, 2023. He was 70 years old.

“Lomax”  as he was known to family and friends was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church in McCormick, SC. He attended McCormick County Schools and  was a truck driver for over 40 years. He was known as “Superfly” while on the road. Lomax was a member of the McCormick South Carolina Free Masonry. There was never a job too big or small for him. Lomax definitely believed in family. When needed, he did his best to be there for his family. He also believed in being a man, which meant being a provider. Throughout his entire life Lomax provided for many of his family members and friends. Which made him a great son, husband, daddy, grandfather, brother, uncle, cousin and friend. Lomax was well loved and will be missed.

In addition to his parents, Lomax was preceded in death by a daughter, DeCarla Lomax; four sisters, Lizzie Morgan (Raymond) Cassie Morgan (Robert), Martha Ann Lomax and Mary Lomax.

Left to cherish his precious memories are his devoted wife of seventeen years, Valerie Lomax; a daughter, Jameca Lomax- Cosernova (Conner); a step daughter, Gaytrell Calhoun; four sons, Alvin Perrin (Kendra), Cedrick Middleton, Lamont Elmore and Desmond Middleton; three bonus sons (grandsons), Stanley Lomax (Bianca), Xavier Lomax (LaKeisha) and Steven Hill; two step sons, Willie Lovett (Toniya) and Cory Lovett; three sisters, Luella Gunter (Robert), Brenda Morgan (Charlie) and Allie Lomax; one brother, William Lomax; twenty grandchildren, twenty-eight great grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
