James Alfonso Thompkins, 76, of McCormick, SC passed on December 17, 2020 at McCormick Rehabilitation and Healthcare. James was born on July 31, 1944 in McCormick, SC to the union of the late Johnnie Presley Thompkins and Mary Louise Scott Alexander. James was raised by his stepfather and mother, the late George and Mary Louise Scott Alexander.

James joined Hosannah Baptist Church at an early age, he graduated from Northwestern High school in Detroit MI and retired from Ford Motor Company.

In addition to his parents James was preceded in death by five siblings, Larmar Thompkins, Otis Alexander, George Vincent Alexander, Donald Thompkins and Louise Thompkins and his stepson, George L. Minnifeild.

Memories of James will be cherished by his dearly loved wife, Juanita Thompkins of Greenwood, SC, His children, Eric (Trashawn) Harris of Detroit MI, Wynique Olen Berry of Greenwood, SC, Monique Norene Thompkins of Lincoln Park, MI and Shalanda Minnifeild of Ronake, AL, His grandchildren, Daquan, Harris, A’Lezia Harris, Trinity Yeldell, Ka’Lynn Neal, Jai’Juan Berry and Tori Ali Thompkins, His siblings, John Thompkins, Jerome Alexander, Rosa Quarles, Alice Tillman, Marie Thompkins, Ernestine Hall, Vanessa Thompkins, Eliz Thompkins and a host of other family and friends.

 

The family will hold a memorial service at a later date
