Jim Self McDuffie

Jim Self McDuffie was born in McCormick County, SC on January 25, 1940. He was the son of the late Johnny and Rosetta Anderson McDuffie and husband of Mae Belle Blair McDuffie. Jim passed on September 26, 2025 at his daughters home in Greenwood, SC surrounded by his family. He was 85 years old.

Jim attended McCormick County Schools and worked in construction before retirement. He was a passionate gardener and enjoyed spending time with his family.

Jim’s memories will be cherished by his wife, Mae Belle Blair McDuffie of the home; son, Michael McDuffie of Greenwood, SC; daughters, Sharron Middleton of Columbia, SC, Joyce Kelly (Kent) and Alice Harrison (Vincent) both of McCormick, SC, Sandra McDuffie of Greenwood, SC; sisters, Mary Britt of Spartanburg, SC, Marian H. Baldwin and Adell Galloway of Greenwood, SC; brothers-in-law, Leon Blair and Robert Blair (Emma) of McCormick, SC and Stanley Price of North Carolina; sisters-in-law, Lynell Blair, Geraldine Blair and Bridgette Blair all of McCormick, SC; grandchildren, LaMarcus Simmons (Barbra), Cameron McDuffie (Desharen), Zachary McDuffie (Shakina), Vanalda Harrison (Anna), Darius Middleton (Kimisha), LaJoy McDuffie, Alicia Harrison, Mercedes McDuffie, Temeika Blunt, Xavier McDuffie (Brianna), Vintrellas Harrison (LaToya) and Antwan Middleton (Gambriel), 32 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandchild, a special family friend, Keith McCurry and a host of other relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, Jim was preceded in death by four sisters, Betty Fletcher, Geraldine McDuffie, Daisy Hester and Timmie Hardy; four brothers, John Archie McDuffie, Willie McDuffie, George L. McDuffie and Joel McDuffie and a great-grandson, Zachary D. McDuffie Jr.
