Johnny Jordan Obituary
It is with deep sadness and humble acceptance of God's will that we celebrate the life of our beloved Johnny Jordan, who departed this earthly life on July 30, 2025. While our hearts grieve his loss, we take comfort in knowing that our all-wise and sovereign God, in His infinite wisdom and mercy, saw fit to call Johnny home. Johnny was born on January 15, 1945, in Troy, South Carolina. He was the sixth of eight children born to the late Robert and Lucia Boyd Jordan. From an early age, Johnny committed his life to Christ and became a member of Glovers Chapel Baptist Church, where his faith continued to shape the man he became. A graduate of Mims High School, Class of 1964, Johnny went on to dedicate over 35 years of service to Greenwood Mills, Durst Plant, before retiring. Though he could have chosen many paths, Johnny chose a life of selfless service—most notably as a devoted caregiver to his younger brother Otto, who preceded him in death, and a steadfast support to his parents, particularly his father, who lost his sight in 1962. Johnny's life was a true testament to love in action. He showed us that one of the greatest expressions of love is found in how we care for others, especially in times of need. His unwavering commitment to his family was a powerful example of compassion, humility, and responsibility. Beyond his service, Johnny found joy in life’s simple pleasures. He loved watching Westerns, wrestling, and sports of all kinds. However, his greatest pastime was hunting—an activity he cherished and often enjoyed with his late brother George and many dear friends. Johnny was preceded in death by his parents, three brothers—Sylvester, George, and Otto—and two sisters, Patricia Polly and Mary Garvin. He leaves to cherish his memory: one devoted sister, Robbie M. Sparks of Long Beach, California; a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends. Though he had no children of his own, Johnny held a special bond with each of his nieces and nephews. He knew each of them well and loved them deeply, often calling on them individually when in need, trusting in their unique strengths to support his needs. Special thanks is extended to Julie, Tracy, and Derrick for their love, presence, and unwavering support, especially during Johnny’s final weeks. Your kindness and dedication brought comfort to both Johnny and our family. Johnny will be deeply missed, but his legacy of love, humility, and service will live on in all who knew him. May we each ask ourselves: What kind of life are we living? How do we wish to be remembered? Johnny’s answer was clear—a life of service. Forever in our hearts.
