Mary Frances Holloway Jennings, 93, of McCormick, SC, passed away on June 23, 2025, at home surrounded by loving family. Mary who was affectionately known as “Ducey” was born on May 21, 1932 in Plum Branch, SC, She was the daughter of the late Lawrence “Preach” and Ommie “Big Ma” Holloway.
Mary was wed to Rufus Jennings on February 14, 1958, in Plum Branch, SC. They were married for 67 years. Together they raised three children, seven grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
Mary graduated from the School of Hard Knocks and the College of Life Experiences. She taught herself to read, write, count, sew, cook and many other skills.
Mary worked hard and had many jobs. She worked as a home manager, cook, laundry attendant, seamstress and her most loved job, a child care provider. She provided support for many people along the way. She was baptized at New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in McCormick, SC. She a member of Thankful Baptist Church in Washington, DC and later became an active member of Zion Chapel AME Church in McCormick, SC.
Mary’s memories will be cherished by her husband, Rufus Jennings; children; Ommie (Raymond) Smith, Lawrence Jennings and Vivian Jennings; grandchildren, Sharon Smith and George Smith, Lawrence Powell, Lawrence Jennings, Christopher Washington, Alontre Roye, LaShae’ Jennings, Lonnell Jennings and Lamoungh Jennings; great-grandchildren, Keona, Desmond, Massiya, Jayce, Jaxon, Shaniyah, ZaRiyah, Desmon, Jarai, Jaliyah, Amoni, Alonni, Alonna, Zion, Zoey, Zara, Au’Brey, Alonna, Aiden, Aston; great-great-grandchild, Penelope; three sisters-in-law, Ammie Sue (Henry) Williams, Earlie Mae Jennings and Perlene Jennings, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and family friends.
