Ms. Mary Talbert Lyons departed this life on September 14, 2024 at Greenville Post Acute Care in Greenville, SC after a period of declining health. She was born on November 5, 1934 in McCormick, SC. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Talbert Jr. and Minnie Ella Johnson Talbert. She was 89 years old.

At an early age Mary accepted Christ as her personal savior and became a member of New Hope Missionary Baptist Church in McCormick, SC where she served in the Missionary Society, Church Choir, Burial Aid Society and was past President of the Usher Board. She graduated from Mims High School and retired from John Dela Howe School as a Resident Advisor.

Mary is survived by her three sons, Robert L. Lyons of Greenwood, SC, Orlando Lyons (Mary P.) of Powder Springs, GA and Steven Lyons (Barbara) of Simpsonville, SC, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren, an uncle, Charlie Talbert of Ashburn, VA, dear girlfriend, Lorraine of Stony Creek, VA and a host of nieces, nephew’s other relatives and friends to mourn her passing.

In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by four sisters, Pauline T. Freeman, Miriam Norwood, Geraline “Red Bird” Haire and Marjorie Talbert.
