Min. Jannie Mae Hamilton was born in Abbeville County SC on April 7, 1935. She was the daughter of the late Elijah and Minnie Burton Starks. She was the widow of Jessie Hamilton. Jannie transitioned from labor to reward on December 17, 2024 in Abbeville, SC . She was 89 years old.

Janie was a member of Mt. Clement CME Church in Abbeville, SC where she served as a minister and member of The 100 Ladies Society. She attended Abbeville County Schools and worked in textiles and home healthcare before retirement.

In addition to her husband and parents, Jannie was preceded in death by a daughter, Theresa Hamilton; three sons, Floyd Hamilton, Willie Hamilton, and Fred Hunter and two grandchildren, Janice Bryant and Joshua Adams

Jannie’s memories will be cherished by her three sons; Jesse (Pearlena) Hamilton and Leroy (Elaine) Hamilton both of Antreville, SC and Elijah (Willie) Hamilton of Anderson, SC; two daughters, Shirley Boggs of Greenville, SC, Wilma (James) Groves of Antreville, SC; three brothers, Elijah (Sophia) Starks of Abbeville, SC, Robert (Annie) Starks of Calhoun Falls, SC and David (Sylvia) Starks of Greenwood, SC;  three sisters, Isabelle Jordan of Abbeville, SC, Ruby Clark of New York and Pearl Burriss of Anderson, SC; 13 grandchildren, 22 great- grandchildren 7 great-great grandchildren and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
