Patricia Ann Hampton was born on March 3, 1954 in Detroit, MI. She was the wife of Solomon Hampton and daughter of the late Robert Searles and Jannie Mae Dowtin. She was raised in the home of her stepfather, the late Brightwell Johnson. Patricia gained her heavenly wings on Tuesday, February 11, 2025. She was 70 years old.

Patricia was a member of Zion Chapel AME Church in McCormick, SC where she served in the Women’s Missionary Society (WMS), Church Choir, former Church Secretary, Church Steward and the AME Scholarship Organizer. She graduated from Greenwood High School and continued her education at Piedmont Technical College. She had a huge impact on children in the McCormick County School District where she served as an Assistant Athletic Director, Secretary, Substitute Teacher, Bus Driver and Attendance Manager. She was also mentor to countless students. She loved serving in the church, spending time with her family, music and singing.

In addition to her parents and stepfather, Patricia was preceded in death by two brothers, Kevin Johnson and Brightwell Johnson Jr. and a sister, Brenda Johnson.

Patricia’s memories will be cherished by her husband of 52 years, Solomon Hampton of the home, sons, Patrick Hampton (Melody Billups) of Marietta, GA and Corey Hampton (Ariana) of Charlotte, NC, a daughter, Krystle Hampton-Tabor (Torrence) of Kannapolis, NC, a brother, Everette Johnson of Lawrenceville, GA, sisters, Willie Bell Hill of Greenwood, SC and Hazel Johnson of Riverdale, MI, seven grandchildren, special family members, the Sims family of Greenwood, SC and a host of other relatives and friends.
