Watassie Kenyatha “Tassie-WaWa” Searles, departed this earthly life suddenly on April 30, 2022. She was the daughter of Shirley Searles of the home and Kenneth (Laccie) Patterson of Hickory Grove, SC.

Watassie was born in Abbeville, SC on July 21, 1992 and was raised in McCormick, SC. She was a graduate of McCormick High School Class of 2010, a 2014 graduate of Allen University with a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Business, Finance and Banking and a 2018 graduate of Strayer University with a Master’s Degree in Business Administration. She was a current employee of Electrolux in Anderson, SC and a former employee of Effex-Fuji Film in Greenwood, SC.  

Watassie was a member of Mt. Zion AME Church, McCormick, SC where she served as an usher and young adult choir member.   She also was a member of the Women Home Aide Society Lodge #86, Women with Poiz SC social club and the Bethlehem Church of God Holiness Young Lady Christian League.  

Watassie was not a stranger to anyone and was the light in every room she entered. She made an impact in all the lives she touched weather it was making you laugh, tutoring math or babysitting children.

Watassie will be long remembered by her parents, four brothers; Kentrell M. Searles of Atlanta, GA, Jalen Adams and Jeremiah Hogan of the home and Anthony (Shiricka) Hunter of Greenville, SC. Four sisters; Persephone (Chad) Brossard of Beaumont, TX, LaKendra Patterson of Concord, NC, KaTerra Patterson of Orangeburg, SC and Addison Holloway of Augusta, GA. A special brotherly friend, Roderickus Williams of Columbus, GA, paternal grandparents, Bennie and Lula Watts, God parents, Kenneth and Deborah Gunter, stepfather Sonny (Darnella) Adams, a special great-aunt, better known as Grandma Bobbie Smith all of McCormick, SC and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends who will miss her dearly.
