William Thomas “Poda” Hammond was born on January 12, 1958 in McCormick, SC to the late Thomas Lee and Katherine Yeldell Hammond. On Wednesday, May 12, 2021 William answered his Savior’s call at age 63.
William joined Zion Chapel AME Church at an early age. He attended McCormick County Schools and worked in logging.
William was proceeded in death by: two brothers: Isaiah Hammond and Larry Hammond a brother in-law: Alfred Williams.
William leaves to cherish his memories, two sisters: Rev. Carolyn Y. Williams of Parksville, SC and Minnie H. (Don) Danforth of McCormick, SC. Three brothers: Eugene (Rhonda) Yeldell of Greenwood, SC, James (Beatrice) Yeldell of Greenwood, SC and Gerald Hammond of Plum Branch, SC, his uncle David (Louise) Yeldell of Plum Branch, SC, his Aunt, Janie Lou Yeldell of Plum Branch, SC and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
